Ethics and Culture in Media Communication

Sustainable communication is a key skill belonging to the graduation program. Students are going to be both theoretically and practically prepared for being able to seek out, analyze, interpret, presenting, and medializing contents in the area of contemporary culture, spirituality, religious studies and themes within the current social discourse. They are going to be stable communicators and mediators in permanent and sustainable communication in areas where the emergence or latent occurrence of conflict situations can be found based on historical experience. An emphasis will be placed in communication on its ethical framework and in the active use of practical skills in the area of formation of media content with a view to preserving the dignity of the participating parties. Graduates will have developed their communication skills and other areas in soft skills. 

The graduate obtains a knowledge of

  • basic concepts and problems of ethics as a philosophical discipline,
  • basic concepts of culture, the emergence, termination and transformation of culture,
  • theories and contexts of media and communication, including communication in the media space,
  • history of cultures and conflicts,
  • world religions, contemporary spirituality and interreligious dialogue,
  • basics of Christianity and Christian culture in the context of the post-modern world,
  • issues of social inequality and its impact on society and culture,
  • and additional themes connected with current social discourse.

They are supposed to additionally acquire skills and abilities

  • to communicate ethically problematic content,
  • reflect on and considering ethical dilemmas and issues in media communication,
  • media communication themes from the areas of ethics, culture, spirituality, politics, etc.,
  • start the emergence of media content with an emphasis on continual development,
  • create a media picture of an organization or institution,
  • manage crisis communication,
  •  create a distributed and personalized communication strategy,
  • ensure the integrated presence in the multi-media space,
  • support and develop media literacy in society.

Graduates can find work as a communication specialist in:

  • not-for-profit organizations,
  • religious and church institutions,
  • the commercial sphere,
  • media companies,
  • health and social services facilities,
  • educational institutions,
  • state and government administration.
