Scholars from the Department of Church History and History of Christian Art are focused primarily on classical and Medieval history of Christian art, the history of the councils and papacy, the nunciatures at the papal court in the early and late Modern periods as well as renowned persons in church history (for example, Cardinal Franz von Dietrichstein, Theodor Kohn and other individuals, first and foremost of the Bohemian and Moravian ecclesiastical provinces). The academic employees in the department cooperate closely with similar academic workplaces at Masaryk University in Brno and Palacký University in Olomouc.
